How the Poshan Tracker Calculator Works
The Poshan Tracker Calculator helps parents and caregivers check a child’s basic growth and nutrition condition using details like height, weight, age, gender, and state. The tool gives an estimated nutrition analysis based on BMI and growth comparison logic.
The calculator mainly checks whether the child is:
- Growing normally
- Underweight
- Stunted
- Moderately nourished
- Severely affected
Information Required in the Tool
The user needs to enter:
- Child Gender
- State Name
- Date of Birth
- Height (in CM)
- Weight (in KG)
After entering the details, the tool analyzes the growth condition instantly.
How the Calculation Works
The tool uses height and weight to calculate the child’s BMI (Body Mass Index).
BMI Formula Used
BMI = \frac{Weight,(kg)}{Height,(m)^2}
Example
If:
- Weight = 12 KG
- Height = 85 CM (0.85 meter)
Then:
[
BMI = \frac{12}{0.85^2}
]
BMI ≈ 16.6
The tool then compares the result with nutrition ranges.
Stunting is Checked Method
The calculator compares the child’s height with estimated healthy growth ranges.
Example Logic
- Very low height → Severe Stunting
- Slightly low height → Moderate
- Healthy height → Normal
How Underweight is Checked
The tool checks whether the child’s weight is lower than expected for their age and height.
Example
- Weight below healthy range → Underweight
- Healthy weight → Normal
How BMI Meter Works
The meter shown in the result section visually displays the child’s BMI category.
The needle moves automatically according to BMI value:
- Green → Healthy
- Yellow → Moderate Risk
- Orange → High Risk
- Red → Severe Risk
