Director General of Police is a senior IPS rank, but even “DGP salary” is not a single number. Under the IPS Pay Rules, DGP-level officers can be in Level 16, while the Head of Police Force post is in the apex Level 17.

DGP In-Hand Salary
Take-home pay cannot be derived by subtracting one standard deduction. Senior IPS officers can have income tax, pension-related contribution where applicable, Government accommodation or HRA treatment, official vehicle/entitlement arrangements and other employee-specific entries.
Important distinction: the ₹2.25 lakh figure is basic pay for the apex Level 17 post, not the complete monthly cash salary and not a universal figure for every officer carrying DGP designation.
