Railway Group D Salary 2026: In-Hand Salary, Basic Pay, DA & Pay Scale

Railway Group D employees are appointed to Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with a starting basic pay of ₹18,000 per month. Basic pay is only one part of the salary. Dearness Allowance, HRA, Transport Allowance and post-specific benefits can increase monthly earnings, while pension and other deductions determine the actual in-hand salary.

What Is Railway Group D Salary Per Month?

The official starting basic pay for Railway Level 1 posts is ₹18,000 per month.

That does not mean a new employee receives only ₹18,000. Dearness Allowance is added to basic pay, and eligible employees can also receive House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance and certain job-specific payments.

The currently notified DA rate for Central Government employees is 60% of basic pay.

Railway Group D in-hand salary is not identical for every employee. The amount changes according to posting city, railway quarters, pension deductions, duty allowances and individual recoveries.

For a fresh Level 1 employee receiving normal HRA and Transport Allowance, a practical starting estimate is approximately ₹29,000 to ₹33,500 per month after a typical pension contribution but before accounting for every employee-specific deduction.

Employees receiving railway accommodation may have a different HRA position. Track Maintainers or employees performing eligible night duties can also have additional earnings.

There is no single guaranteed salary figure after five years because pay progression depends on the employee’s actual increment dates, promotions, MACP status and other service events.

An employee continuing in Level 1 normally moves through successive Pay Matrix cells. As basic pay increases, DA and percentage-based HRA also change.

This is more accurate than assuming that every employee’s salary rises by a fixed percentage every year.

Track Maintainer Salary

Track Maintainer Grade IV is one of the well-known Level 1 Railway posts. The basic pay begins at the same ₹18,000.

Employees performing qualifying night duty may receive Night Duty Allowance according to Railway rules.
